Easy Installation on Existing Homes/Buildings Retrofitted to Cladding
Our bracketed design is perfect for retrofitting to existing structures and makes installation a breeze, saving you time and money. Achieve a professional look without the stress of complex installations – though we do recommend a qualified builder, carpenter or roof fixer for the job.

How to Measure Up
Ideal installation of your Modhood will be 150mm above the top of your window frame.
• To get your Modhood Width: Measure the width of your window frame and add 150mm either side of your window for ideal overhang. Which means you'll simply add 300mm to your window frame width to choose your Modhood width.
• For example: Your standard 900mm window will use a 1050mm wide Modhood:
Standard 1200 mm window = 1350 mm wide Modhood
Standard 1500 mm window = 1650 mm wide Modhood
Standard 1800 mm window = 1950 mm wide Modhood
Standard 2100 mm window = 2250 mm wide Modhood
Standard 2400 mm window = 2550 mm wide Modhood
Standard 2700 mm window = 2850 mm wide Modhood
• If standard is close enough, pick your desired colour and add the hood to your cart. Move on to your next window.

What’s in the Box
When your window hood arrives check that you have all the components. There should be:
- 1 flat plate hood
- Enough Brackets to match the holes predrilled on your flat plate hood. (see specification sheet below)
- 6 bugle head bolts with nuts and washers per bracket. (To fix the hood to the bracket.)
All fixings are included for standard masonry or timber walls. If you have another material (such as foam), you may need to source your own fixings.

Retrofitting to Modern Window Hoods To Walls
Assembly
Connect brackets to hood sheet using supplied socket head button screws, nuts and washers as per diagram. Attached the brackets to the hood plate, prior to lifting up above window. Bolt heads should be on the bottom and nuts go on top inside the brackets.
Installation
- Identify the location of the awning above the window or door and ensure suitable fixing locations are available for the wall brackets.
- Mark out the exact length of the awning from outside edge. See Figure 2. Hold awning up against surface in desired position. Use Bracket fixing holes to mark the wall location.
- Remove awning, place in safe spot, be aware not to scratch. Pre-drill holes if required. Use spirit level to confirm hood will be level and parallel with window below.
- Fix awning through 4 holes per bracket to the wall using supplied wall mount fixings for timber or masonry as required, see fixing table page 1.
- Wipe clean awning and wall surfaces after awning is installed
- Awning is now complete

The 6 most commonly requested colours are available for a short lead time delivery. Any colour outside of this range is a custom colour special order and will attract a one off set up fee on top of standard colour prices.
That depends on a lot of factors like time of day, weather outside, size of window, your latitude & longitude and many other factors. As a broad generalised statement, you can expect a couple of degrees cooler in your entire house by blocking the heat outside the window, rather than cooling it once it is in.
Yes, once installed correctly; there are no gaps between the wall and the hood. If required use appropriate sealant (not supplied), i.e. foam fillers, sillicone or Sikkaflex. Please note, this hood does not replace the need for window flashings as per Australian Building Standards.
Depends on where you live. The hoods & brackets have been premade but still need to be powder coated to your desired colour. This could take 10 business days, then you need to allow for the transport time from Brisbane. Sydney is generally 2-3 days travel and Melbourne 4-5 days.
Our Engineers have verified the hood structures are structurally adequate to support the following wind class ensuring its stability and structural strength: AS/NZS 1170.2 – 2021 Wind actions Rated: Wind Class N3 (Non-Cyclonic Regions).
