Refined, Responsible & Built to Last: Our Partnership with Eco Essence Homes

Great homes are shaped by more than their design. The materials selected throughout a build influence how the home looks, feels and performs for decades to come.

That is why we are proud to work alongside Eco Essence Homes, an award-winning builder specialising in healthy, high-performing homes across South East Queensland and the Northern Rivers of New South Wales. Like Eco Sustainable House, their team shares a strong commitment to thoughtful design, responsible construction and materials that deliver lasting value.

A Northern Rivers Home Designed to Last

This striking Northern Rivers project demonstrates what can be achieved when contemporary architecture is paired with the natural character of Australian hardwood.

Clean lines, expansive windows and a refined neutral exterior create the foundation of the design. Warm timber elements have then been incorporated throughout the façade and outdoor living areas, providing contrast, texture and a stronger connection to the surrounding landscape.

The result is a home that feels modern without becoming clinical, and visually impressive without relying on short-lived design trends.

For this project, Eco Essence Homes selected two key products supplied by Eco Sustainable House:

  • Australian Blackbutt Hardwood Shiplap Cladding
  • Recycled Hardwood Timber Posts

Together, these materials contribute warmth and architectural detail while supporting the home’s broader focus on durability and responsible material selection.

Australian Blackbutt Hardwood Shiplap Cladding

The Blackbutt hardwood cladding is one of the home’s most distinctive features.

Used across the façade, awnings and covered outdoor areas, its warm natural tones create a strong visual contrast against the white and charcoal exterior. The timber helps soften the building’s contemporary form while drawing attention to important architectural features.

Eco Sustainable House’s Dressed All Round Blackbutt shiplap is planed smooth for a clean, consistent finish. Its profile includes a defined shadow line, helping create depth across larger surfaces while allowing for the natural movement of timber. The cladding is designed for a range of residential and commercial applications, including external façades, feature walls and architectural linings.

As a natural Australian hardwood, every board has its own grain, colour and character. Rather than creating a perfectly manufactured appearance, the variation gives the finished home a sense of authenticity that will continue to develop as the timber ages.

Recycled Hardwood Timber Posts

Recycled hardwood posts were also incorporated throughout the home’s outdoor living areas.

These substantial timber elements provide visual structure while complementing the finer lines of the cladding. Their reclaimed character adds texture and history to the build, helping create outdoor spaces that feel established rather than newly manufactured.

Eco Sustainable House’s recycled timber posts are milled to order and are available in proven Australian hardwood species such as Spotted Gum, Ironbark and Blackbutt, subject to availability. The posts are wire-brushed, naturally seasoned and moisture-checked before delivery, helping reduce unnecessary movement once installed.

Because every recycled post has lived a previous life, no two pieces are identical. Natural markings, colour variation and evidence of the timber’s past become part of the finished design.

It is this genuine character that makes recycled timber especially effective in contemporary homes. The material creates a focal point while preventing modern architecture from feeling overly uniform.

Why Builders Continue to Choose Australian Hardwood

Australian hardwood remains a popular choice for builders, architects and homeowners because it offers a combination of visual warmth, strength and versatility.

For projects such as this, the benefits include:

Natural character

Timber introduces warmth and texture that cannot be completely replicated by composite or manufactured materials. Its grain and tonal variation make every installation unique.

Refined architectural detail

Shiplap profiles, timber soffits and substantial recycled posts can be used to highlight rooflines, entrances, windows and outdoor entertaining spaces.

Proven durability

Suitable hardwood species can withstand demanding Australian conditions when correctly specified, installed and maintained.

A more responsible material choice

Reclaimed timber gives existing hardwood a new purpose, reducing the need for newly harvested resources while preserving the strength and character of the original material. Eco Sustainable House supplies a range of recycled timber products intended for applications including posts, decking, flooring, fencing and architectural features.

Design flexibility

Australian hardwood works across a wide variety of architectural styles. It can provide contrast within a contemporary home, complement a coastal design or become the defining feature of a more traditional build.

Better Results Through Long-Term Collaboration

For many years, Eco Essence Homes has trusted Eco Sustainable House to supply Australian timber products across a wide range of residential projects.

That ongoing relationship is built on more than the appearance of the finished products. Builders need materials that arrive as expected, meet the project requirements and provide consistent quality across multiple orders.

As Jeremy from Eco Essence Homes explains:

“We keep coming back because the quality is consistent and we know exactly what we’re getting every time. That level of reliability makes a big difference on site.”

For us, that reliability is an essential part of a successful supplier and builder relationship.

It allows the builder to move forward with confidence, helps reduce uncertainty during installation and ultimately contributes to a better result for the homeowner.

Creating Homes That Feel Good and Perform Well

This Northern Rivers project is an excellent example of how responsible material choices can enhance both the appearance and longevity of a home.

The Blackbutt cladding brings warmth and definition to the contemporary exterior, while the recycled hardwood posts create strength, character and a meaningful connection to the material’s past.

Combined with the thoughtful design and craftsmanship of Eco Essence Homes, these materials have helped create a home that is refined, environmentally considered and built to be enjoyed for generations.

We are grateful for the continued support of the Eco Essence Homes team and proud to supply timber products for projects that share our commitment to quality, sustainability and considered Australian design.
